After hosting its first WorldSBK round in 2021, there have been significant improvements to the Autodrom Most both on and off track, making for an even better experience this year

The MOTUL FIM Superbike World Champion returns to the Autodrom Most for the 2022 Prosecco DOC Czech Round and the second WorldSBK round to be held at the Czech circuit. After the success of the 2021 round, the circuit has made some improvements to certain aspects of the circuit including reprofiled run-off areas, resurfacing at certain parts of the track and paddock facilities.

The track has been resurfaced from the exit of Turn 12 all the way to the entry of Turn 5, whilst new kerbs have been installed at the Turn 1-2 chicane. Between Turns 5 and 10, gravel traps have been reprofiled or enlarged while the drainage has been improved too. At Turn 13, the gravel trap has been reprofiled and the guardrails moved further back from the track, with there now being a 5% incline rising from the verge. It’s a similar story at Turns 18 and 20, with the guardrail moved between three and six metres back from the track as well as an incline in the gravel trap.

There have also been significant improvements to the drainage at several corners of the track which amounted to around 4.5km of tubes being installed to assist draining in the event of rain. Turns 1-3, 5-10, 11-12, 13, 15-17 and 18-21 have all seen changes made to assist with drainage where the tubes have been installed. Since the end of last season, approximately 35,000,000 Czech Koruna (CZK) (approximately €1,400,000 or £1,200,000) has been spent on several upgrades at the circuit.

It isn’t just the on-track areas that have been improved since WorldSBK’s first visit to the Autodrom Most, with plenty of changes in the pitlane and paddock areas. The circuit has installed 28 movable and zoomable cameras, 27 permanent and one mobile, capable of recording in 4K resolution as well as have 360-degree rotation and a wiper in case of rain.

The race control area of the paddock has been expanded to accommodate more people, whilst there’s a new connection between important areas of the paddock such as the race control tower, pit boxes, and start gantry. The ground floor of the control tower was also completely rebuilt as part of the works.
